Hogwarts & Happiness

Fri Jul 13, 2007, 3:18 PM
So. I went to see the midnight showing of Order of the Phoenix with a few of my best nerd friends. A few of my favorite things?

+ Luna Lovegood.
+ Harry's new haircut.
+ Thestrals.
+ All "Room of Requirement" scenes.
+ Umbridge's portrayal.
+ Multiplayer DS during our 4 hours waiting in line.
+ Sushi dinner with the boyfriend and buying 2 pairs of sunglasses... but I digress.

A few of my least favorite things?

~ Disappointing action scenes, especially towards the end. (See: Dumbledore's expulsion, the whole fiasco in the Department of Mysteries, Dumbledore/Harry vs. Voldemort, etc.)
~ Shortened action scenes.

I would have given my left pinky toe to have an extra 30 minutes of improved action sequences... The entire movie felt rushed. Obviously, I realize what a challenge it must have been to direct and edit this movie, and I appreciate the director's artistic judgment in leaving certain scenes the same and changing others. But from the novel, this particular arc had tremendous potential that would make an extra 30 min. totally worthwhile.

SIGH! Oh well. All the same, I have the uncontrollable urge to draw some HP fanart and am downloading OotP to re-watch; I will assuredly buy the DVD when it comes out in widescreen format, of course. Such is the joy of a die-hard fan.

I just came across your page and your work is amazing! I noticed that you went to UCI too. This may sound weird, but somehow you sound so familiar to me.
:iconpandahgirl:
Hey, thanks for the kind words about my artwork! :3

I just graduated from UCI, and I don't really know who you may be, but... it's always great to meet a fellow Anteater. Are you a graduate too?

No problem about the comment! I just graduated from the Engineering school at UCI. Haha I just realized how I recognize you now. Somehow my friends are friends with your friends or something. They just briefly gave me and introduction on who everyone as I passed by, in particular your boyfriend because he was an engineering student like me. You guys still together?
:iconpandahgirl:
Wow, small world! So do you know my boyfriend personally like through classes, or just through friends? Any chance that we may have met or that I might know you? Since you graduated this year, do you happen to know a BME major by the name of David Yu?

Oh and to answer your question: the bf and I sort of still together - to make a long story short and drama-free, we had some trouble earlier this year but now we're on the mend. ^^

Well anyways, I'm always down for seeing a new face! Drop me a line whenever you feel like it. It's great to hear from fellow grads. :D

Yea it's a small world indeed! That's why when I saw your name it sounded so familiar I had to ask. I actually don't know you or your boyfriend or any of your friends though, but my friends are friends with your friends. I hope that made sense. haha! No, I actually don't know a Bio-med Engineer named David Yu. It's good to hear you and the bf are on good terms. Good luck and hopefully we'll meet one of these days :)
